A Summer Recipe: Pan Fried Donuts

Jewel’s take on a David Chang-inspired dessert — pan-fried Krispy Kreme donuts with cereal-infused ice cream — is a sweet nod to childhood summers and road trip rituals in Toronto.

 

 

 

  

 

ingredients

Vanilla Ice Cream, two large scoops and more for serving
Two tablespoons of corn flakes cereal 
Two Krispy Kreme sugar coated classic donuts 
Cinnamon powder (ceylon cinnamon is my personal favourite for this recipe) 

 


method


1. In a large bowl, let the two scoops of ice cream melt completely, stir in the cereal and let it sit for 10 minutes to infuse.

2. Strain the ice cream and cereal mixture through a sieve, and then pour the mixture into serving bowls.

3. Heat a skillet over medium heat, sear the donuts until both sides are lightly browned and the sugar starts to melt.

4. Place the warm donuts on top of the cereal ice cream mixture. 

5. Add another scoop of ice cream and sprinkle generously with cinnamon powder. Best enjoyed right away.
